A Nation at Hope

The Aspen Institute National Commission on Social, Emotional, and Academic Development was created to engage communities in re-envisioning learning to encompass its social, emotional, and cognitive dimensions so that all children can succeed in school, careers, and life. The Commission’s Nation at Hope report draws on research and promising practices to recommend how to make all these dimensions of learning part of the fabric of every school and community.

A Nation at Hope provides compelling evidence in favor of a whole child, whole day approach to learning. In addition to the full report, the Commission published the Building Partnerships report, which highlights the critical role that youth development providers play in supporting young people outside of the school day.
