Nurturing Social-Emotional Learning in Out-of-School-Time

We know that high-quality Out-of-School-Time programs provide a context that enables young people to learn and practice key social and emotional skills. This report describes a collaborative and intentional effort by nine organizations in Silicon Valley (California) to build their capacity to support social and emotional growth in the young people in their programs.

Through a combination of a continuous quality improvement process and collective learning experiences, organizations in the collaborative saw shifts in their own program practice and in young people’s growth in the areas of academic mindsets, learning strategies, and social skills.
