Program Overview
Communities In Schools of Federal Way mentoring program recruits volunteer mentors from our community and matches them with a student who could benefit from having a consistent, caring adult role-model in their life. Mentors support young people through their formative years and provide guidance and encouragement through life’s challenges.
The Mentor’s Role: The Mentor’s main purpose is to be a consistent caring adult. By sharing fun activities and exposing the student to new ideas, Mentors encourage positive choices, promote self-esteem and support academic achievement.
Who We Support: The program focuses on students who could benefit from extra attention and encouragement. These students may exhibit risk factors for dropping out of school such as poverty, failing grades, absenteeism, high mobility, disengagement from school or low self-esteem.
