Individuals experiencing developmental disabilities
Program Overview
The Explorers program provides college student mentors to develop & facilitate person-centered activities & supports for young people with I/DD (Explorers) as they transition from high school to adult supports. This transition period is a crucial time in laying the foundation for a fulfilling adult life, but unfortunately it is also a time when many youth fall through the cracks and become isolated as they leave the schools that have been their main support systems for many years. We work with local universities to create volunteer & work study opportunities to train and pair mentors with youth who are in transition. Our mentors will help the Explorers find a path to a rich, meaningful, and well-supported adult life.
