YOUTH WHO ARE
WMF STEM Youth Paleontology, Archaeology, and Geology Camps are for 3rd-12th grade students. Site tours and activities are open to all ages.
Program Overview
Research conducted by the National Science Foundation shows that there is a need to improve science and critical thinking skills for all K-12 students, and better prepare them to succeed in STEM careers. The Wenas Mammoth Foundation's focus is to provide engaging, regionally-based academic experiences and resources that can activate a passion for learning Science that is both fun, enjoyable and educational. The WMF's Dig Site Educational Program's focus is to bring local earth science (local Ice Age history and methods paleontology, archaeology, geology), to teachers, students, and our communities.
The WMF offers a variety of activities at the Wenas Creek Mammoth Dig Site which includes
1) STEM Teacher Paleontology, Archaeology, and Geology 2-Day Day Camp where teachers can gain local earth science knowledge and resources to utilize in their classrooms, and earn 15 STEM Clock Hours upon completion
2) Youth Paleontology, Archaeology, and Geology 3-Day Day Camp where 3rd-12th grade students actually learn the methods of Paleontology, Archaeology, and Geology
3) Schools and the public may also schedule tours
4) October, Archaeology Month, the WMF hosts the annual Day-at-the-Dig event which is open to everyone

Yes, meals/snacks are provided
Our regular youth and teacher camps, the participants have to provide their own lunches. However, when funding is available we provide youth camps to underrepresented youth, partnering with local school districts. In 2022, with funding from School's Out Washington Summer Program Fund, we were able to work with the Union Gap and the Yakima School Districts to provide two weeks of 3-day day camps for 3rd - 12th grade students. The registration fee was waved and the school districts provided the transportation and lunches/snacks for the youths.

Registration Details
Teacher STEM Paleontology, Archaeology, and Geology 2-Day Day Camps are $150.00 plus the clock hour fee through ESD105 for 15 STEM clock hours per person. WMF Youth STEM Paleontology, Archaeology, and Geology 3-Day Day Camps are $120.00 per youth. WMF Underserved Youth STEM Paleontology, Archaeology, and Geology 3-Day Day Camps. In 2022 this program was offered to 3rd through 12th grade youths that were furthest from educational justice through the SOWA and OSPI 2022 Summer Program Fund. The WMF worked with local school districts to give underserved youths the opportunity to attend camp. Schools provided transportation, lunches, and a staff person. The youth registration fees were sponsored through the WMF. Youths also received mammoth t-shirts and certificates of participation. The 2023 program is pending upon available funding opportunities.

Youth Paleontology, Archaeology, and Geology Summer 3-Day Day Camp - registration packet must be completed and returned to WMF. Site Tours registration scheduling forms must be completed to reserve your date and time. Tours options are available for families and groups.
