Program Overview
METALS - Mentoring, Educating, Transforming and Leading through Skateboarding. METALS is a community-based recidivism/prevention program for court-involved youth that works directly with the Pierce County Juvenile Court. We use skateboarding as a tool to help youth transition out of the Juvenile Court system and build a network of positive supporters, mentors, and friends. Alchemy is proud to have helped over 50 children and youth over the past 3 years transition back into civilian normalcy. These weekly skateboarding sessions develop resiliency in our youth participants by fostering self-efficacy, social engagement, empathy, networking, and leadership. METALS has transitioned to a virtual format to prevent service breaks despite COVID-19.
