No Due Dates: K-12 Book Giveaway

PCLS Librarians will deploy to locations offering basic needs (food banks, homeless shelters, school district sponsored free meal sites, etc.) to give away books to households with children. The programmatic focus is to promote reading in the home, while closing the literacy-achievement gap experienced by low-income children in Pierce County. Enabling students to choose reading material of interest to them is a key factor, as children from low-income families often rely on their school or the local library to check-out materials. We will also be able to sign them up for a library card, and inform them of our free services such as Library Curbside, online tutoring/remote learning supports, and our vast digital media options.
