Program Overview
The YMCA operates Community Learning Centers at five underserved and under resourced Tacoma middle schools. These schools have been identified by district leadership as at-risk, priority schools for improving student grade point average, school attendance, and behavior.
The Y is integrated into these schools, including a full-time, on-site Program Director, who helps deliver and coordinate academic, health, social-emotional, and cultural enrichment services before, during, and after school to students in grades 6-8. More than 25 community partners contribute services to support a common vision and shared outcomes for student success.
