Bringing (SAM) to Students: K-12 Virtual Arts Learning Programs

SAM will provide remote learning programs, from lesson plans and recorded museum tours to live virtual tours in the 2020/21 school year. Our primary audience is eight Title 1 schools in the Seattle and Highline Public School districts (specifics follow), with whom we have partnered for more than a decade. We will use arts-learning to improve student engagement and outcomes, and build social and emotional learning skills, which will help students better navigate trauma, confusion, pain, and other emotions they are likely experiencing amid the pandemic and social upheaval. It is critical that these students, who are furthest from educational justice, have resources that minimize the negative effects of disrupted and reduced instruction.
