Program Overview
Youth Musical Theatre Performers—Opening Act for kids, ages 8-11
“Opening Act” performers rehearse and perform a musical theatre song in costume on stage. They learn healthy vocal techniques, classic dance moves, and gain confidence in a supportive and age appropriate experience.
This quarter, the selection is “Santa by the Book” which is a charming song from the musical Yes, Virginia! and is a celebration of world culture and the magic of reading books. Students will learn about Chinese, Armenian, French, Danish, Hawaiian, Swedish, and Ukrainian traditions and be invited to share about their own cultural winter holidays.
Students will perform twice as the opening act of Scrooge’s Christmas the weekend of December 15-17 at the SCC Theater.
