Refugee School Impact Program Copy

To expand and improve CRB’s After-School Reading Program, CRB will have the addition of the Fluid Learning on S.T.E.A.M and Core Skills (FLOSS) Model, an enrichment program which aims to close the opportunity gap for newcomer refugee youth by building their academic skills and soft skills. FLOSS will combine student mentoring, academic enrichment blocks, and enrichment opportunities in a supportive out-of-school time and space for newly arrived refugee and immigrant youth. Each component of the FLOSS model will be focused on the objectives of providing opportunities for youth to: A) Work collaboratively with their peers; B) Develop the necessary English language skills to be successful in school, college, and career; and C) increase the amount of out-of-school time students are engaged in enrichment activities.
