In-School Projects sends a skilled Program Manager and trained volunteers into the classroom to help a teacher's dream writing project become a reality.
Working in partnership with the teacher, our Program Manager offers support in curriculum development and assists volunteers in helping students with writing, revision, and research. At the end of the project, Fearless Ideas binds together the student work in a custom-designed chapbook, creating a tangible, lasting artifact that unifies student work as a collective effort. Once the project is completed, there's a publishing party for students, teachers, and parent (and sometimes there's even cake)!
In-School Projects can fit a wide range of topics; some examples from the past include personal narratives, letters to political leaders, bedtime stories, college entrance essays, and semi-fictional tales of the Duwamish waterway.
We typically join the classroom once a week, and the overall project duration can range from a single session or even span several months. If you need help creating a project for your students, we can help explore or solidify your ideas (the more fearless the idea, the better).
