Website Closure FAQ
Why is Elevate Washington shutting down?
Although we strongly believe that a statewide youth development database and directory is needed in Washington state, we currently lack the resources to further develop or maintain Elevate. Unfortunately, we have been unable to secure new funding to keep the site active and given the current funding climate at both the state and national levels, the outlook for additional funding in the near future is not promising. Without an infusion of funding, the data will become out-of-date and less useful, which makes this the most responsible decision given the current reality.
I am looking for youth programs for the young people I support. Where can I look now?
Without Elevate, there is no single site that lists youth programs in Washington state, but there are quite a few focused on specific communities or types of programs. Many school districts such as Spokane Public Schools, Highline Public Schools, and Seattle Public Schools publish lists of community partners, including afterschool programs serving students in their district. Child Care Aware of Washington can help families find childcare options, including programs for school age children in summer and after school.
Will the website be back up in the future?
Although the website will not be live, we will retain archives of the site and database so that in the event we receive future funding for Elevate, we will be able to restore it. A significant investment would be required to update the data and integrate the latest database technology. If that investment can be secured at some point in the future, we hope to bring Elevate back online, and we will continue to advocate for the need for a statewide youth program database and directory.
Will we still be able to use the directory after May 30, 2025?
No, the directory is tied to the data in the member system and will be taken down along with the website and database.
What will happen to my data and user account?
All data and user accounts will be permanently deleted from the website and member system after May 30, 2025. School’s Out Washington will retain a copy of the data and continue to follow our data sharing agreement. We may view, analyze, or use the data for internal use or share in aggregate form with data partners and funders of School’s Out Washington or Elevate Washington. For more information, see section #2 in our data sharing agreement.

Why is a youth program data system needed in Washington state?
School’s Out Washington created the Elevate Washington data platform so that we have the tools and information needed to see where youth programs are operating in our state and better understand who’s being served. Comprehensive data allows us to monitor cost and availability of youth programs across Washington state, advocate for resources, and provide youth and families with a free, easy way to find programs in their area.
Bottom line: we can’t improve what we can’t see. If we truly believe that accessible, high-quality expanded learning and youth development is integral to supporting youth success and wellbeing—then we must invest in data and commit to using what we learn to inform our work.
