Korean School of Federal Way is a nonprofit Korean language school that was founded in 2011 by leaders of the Federal Way Korean American community. We focus on the four pillars of language acquisition (speaking, listening, reading, and writing), while also offering cultural enrichment classes, such as taekwondo, choir, and samulnori (Korean percussion ensemble). Classes are open to preschoolers through adults of all language abilities and backgrounds.
Our mission is to instill a deep sense of pride and appreciation for the motherland in our students born of Korean immigrant parents and in successive generations of Korean Americans. We also seek to share Korea's distinctive culture and traditions with our friends of diverse ethnic/cultural backgrounds as a natural extension of their language studies.
We normally meet at the TAF@Saghalie campus in Federal Way on Saturdays at 9:30 am - 1:00 pm during the school year (September - June). However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have transitioned to a fully virtual learning model since March of 2020, and we will continue to operate remotely until it is safe to resume in-person learning.
