Salish School of Spokane is a grass roots, Native American organization serving the post-genocide Native community in Spokane. Our mission is: Dynamic Salish language revitalization powering cultural renewal and building a stronger, healthier community. We work to achieve our mission through five interrelated programs: 1) Salish language immersion preschool and family support services for children aged 3-5 years; 2) Salish immersion cultural K-8 schooling for children aged 5-13 years; 3) bilingual (Salish-English) secondary education for youth aged 14-18; 4) year-round evening and weekend Salish language and culture classes for parents and community members, and; 5) a school-based intensive Salish language teacher training program.
