Wasat is located in Hillman City, a deep part of the South Seattle Community. Our mission is to create a space to connect people and explore the American-Muslims tradition through art, love, and learning. Our focus is for BIPOC youth and families to connect through weekly classes, book discussions, open-mic nights, artists workshops, guest speaker lectures, and well-being retreats. We serve a diverse population within our community living in multiple counties; primarily youth, young professionals, and families. Our 2019-year end survey results show of those who responded, 38% are South Asian; 21% are Middle Eastern; 17% Black or African American; 11% other; 7% African; 6% Hispanic or Latino; and 75% are women.
