Communities In Schools of Lakewood's mission is to surround young people with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. We operate on a model of 'Integrated Student Supports,' which is a school-community approach to promoting students' academic success by coordinating a seamless system of wraparound supports for the child, the family, and schools, to target students' academic and non-academic barriers to learning through school-wide, small group and individualized supports. We build relationships and partnerships that connect students to the resources they need and aim to reduce gaps in graduation rates because we believe in a society where student success is not determined by household income or race.
