Students entering grades 1-6.
Program Overview
Provides a fun and stimulating environment while at the same time promoting summer learning retention. Program includes structured learning in areas of math, science, social studies, language and literacy, the creative arts, and physical fitness. A general theme is chosen each week and the children both acquire knowledge about that topic and are given opportunities to apply specific social, emotional and academic skills.
Each week instructors and community volunteers work with students on fun projects. Examples include instructors who specialize in gardening, teaching reading and math through cooking, break-dancing, and comic-book drawing. Other activities include field trips to the zoo, museums, parks, libraries, sporting events, and many other local attractions. No fees are charged to families for field trips.
