Program Overview
CSF’s College and Career Readiness program begins in middle school when students’ grades, attendance rates and level of school engagement have a major impact on their ability to complete high school and be successful in college.
Our College and Career Coaches are AmeriCorps members who work directly in the schools to create a college-going culture and build college and career awareness.
Early college awareness in middle school:
- Strengthens students’ aspirations to attend college
- Increases the likelihood that students will enroll in college
- Improves success and likelihood of college graduation
Students participate in a structured college awareness and readiness lessons that help them recognize the benefits of a college education, understand the steps they’ll need to take to prepare for college and how to pay for it. CSF AmeriCorps College and Career Coaches deliver lessons during the school day, coordinate and support college-going culture activities for all students in a school, and support College Bound Scholarship sign-ups.
