YOUTH WHO ARE
Must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Live in Spokane County
- Boys need to be 7-12 years of age, girls need to be 6-12 years of age
- Child needs to be willing to meet with a volunteer 2-4 hours, 2-4 times a month
- Child displays a need and want of a mentor
- Parent/Guardian is supportive of the child being involved in the program
- Parent/Guardian is willing to attend a “Parent Training” course
- Commit to an 12 month participation in the program
- Attend a Parent/Guardian and Child interview
Program Overview
The families we serve face severe barriers to employment, education, and economic opportunities. The consistent presence of an accessible, caring adult in the lives of kids that we serve proves to be a game-changer.
Community-based mentoring relationships involve one-to-one outings and activities, doing things the Big and Little enjoy together. Each match is unique and develops a schedule that works for them. Bigs and Littles spend 2-4 hours, 2-4 times a month with each other for at least 18 months.
