MAPS Youth, founded in 2013, works with over 50+ active youth and hosts 1-2 weekly events throughout the regular school year. We tackle relevant discussion issues (racism, environmental justice, mental health/suicide prevention), engage in community service (food prep & distribution at tent cities, food banks), and promote healthy social activities (roller skating, bowling, movie nights). Our leadership training encourages our upperclassmen to serve as officers and help plan the regular activities of the school year as well as organize a 3-day summer retreat. Through all this, we provide connection, social-emotional support, mentoring, pride of identity, and a sense of belonging for the youth whose voices are heard and empowered.
