Dancing Classrooms, Greater Seattle Chapter

Dancing Classrooms lies at the heart of our strategic plans for bringing ballroom dance into the future, and for removing all barriers to the arts that exist in our communities. We have introduced ballroom dance to over 11,000 fifth grade students through the Dancing Classrooms program over the last ten years. Through Dancing Classrooms, we take ballroom dance out of the studio setting and into public school classrooms where desks and chairs are pushed aside to create the dance floor. The program is free for all students and every class member participates in a meaningful way. During a ten-week residency, teaching artists will visit each classroom twice a week teaching Swing, Tango, Merengue, Foxtrot, Salsa, and Waltz.
