Program Overview
The Polytech driving program make the process of learning to drive manageable for high-functioning neurodiverse and anxious learners ages 15 and older. We start with neurodiverse-friendly instruction to prep for the written portion of the WA driver’s exam, move to one-on-one practice in our commercial-grade simulator, and have partnered with a traditional driving school for in-car instruction and testing (both the knowledge/written test for a permit and the DoL Skills/driving test for a license).
Students may get assistance with any portion of the driver's license process, or complete all requirements to earn a semester of high school credit. For anxious drivers, the simulator allows night driving as well as practice in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions, all from the safety of our office.
Driving is a life skill enabling the student to attend higher education, social events and employment throughout his or her entire life. The Polytech is a private high school that creates a safe space for neurodiverse, anxious, LGBTQ, health impaired, and any other condition that may push the student further from education justice and social isolation.
We continue serving our students through age 26 to support the transition to college, career, and adulthood, teaching self-advocacy and providing opportunities to build confidence and friendships.
