Program Overview
Summer Stretch offers both accelerated courses (e.g. Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Precalculus, Chemistry) and courses for enrichment (e.g. American Literature, Mock Trial, Robotics) for students currently in 7th through 10th grade. All of these courses provide an in-depth, intensive learning experience
Offers a five-week summer program that includes courses for school credit and enrichment that provide an in-depth, intensive learning experience. School credit courses offered include algebra, geometry, precalculus and chemistry. Enrichment courses offered include American Literature, debate and physics of robotics.
Classes are small, and instructors are all specialists in their field. Students must be committed to a substantial homework load; courses are graded and final transcripts are provided. Program usually runs in June and July each year on the University of Washington Seattle campus.
The Robinson Center does not grant high school credit for Stretch courses. It is the decision of each individual school and district as to whether a Summer Stretch course qualifies for school credit/placement. If students would like school credit for their Summer Stretch course, they MUST obtain permission from their school counselor or principal in advance.

How To Register
Complete the online application and submit the appropriate documentation which can include ONE of the following:
- Enrollment in an identified gifted/highly capable program that specifically serves highly capable students
- Qualification to participate in a nationally-recognized talent search (Johns Hopkins CTY, Davidson Institute, etc.)
- A letter of recommendation from a teacher
- Smarter Balanced (SBAC) scores, standardized test scores or scores in 50th percentile or above in particular subject areas
- Previous enrollment in Summer Challenge or Summer Stretch programs.
For all math classes, an online recommendation form from a current math teacher required.
For the STEM course, an online recommendation form from a current math or science teacher required.
Applications are typically open in January each year.
