Program Overview
Camp Toyoyo is one of the most famous indigenous summer camp programming in Africa which has been adapted and rebranded to meet the needs of the immigrant population in Washington while retaining its African flavor in the nostalgic experiences of being home while away from home. Camp Toyoyo in African context has been around for many decades and is passed on through generational participation in different context during summer circuits.
Children, teens and youth participate in outdoor games and activities in different cities locally, mostly for recreation, social connections and Summer celebration of the past year. Favorite sports include track, soccer, and children activities.
Circuits move inter-city with the final games bringing all teams together to mark end of summer until the next season. The location shifts each year and is based on participating cities, counties, suburbs etc.

Health & Safety
Teenagers Plus has resumed in-house Youth programs under reopening Washington guidelines. We have been offering support services for immigrant communities to access Covid-19 response including wrap-around services, Vaccine access and other related information . Translators are available and appointments received by TEXT or Calls to 206 231 7199 Monday through Friday 9.00am-5PM.
Meal/Snacks
Yes, meals/snacks are provided
We purchase cultural foods from local suppliers which meet the needs of young people. Most ethnic food can remain on shelfs without need for refrigeration although we do have a small fridge. The youth can drop in for snacks, rest, to speak with a peer, orr use the resource center services (Library, internet or print and copy which Teenagers Plus provides at no charge). We also keep raw ethnic foods for families who might stop by with nutritional needs.
