Eligible students include (but are not restricted to):
Students living both inside and outside Kent School District boundaries
Students who have dropped out of high school
Students who have never enrolled in high school
Students who are homeless
Special Education students
English Language Learners
Students who have been expelled or suspended
Eligible students:
Have not yet met high school graduation requirements
Must be 16-20 years old on September 1 of the current school year. Once eligible, students may continue enrollment through August after they turn 21. In 2021-2022, eligible students are born after September 2, 2000, and on or before September 1, 2005.
One of the following must also be true:
The student is more than 366 days past his/her original graduation date;
The student is significantly credit deficient;
The student has been recommended for enrollment by one of the agencies listed below because it has been determined that the student's unique needs cannot be met by attendance at a traditional high school. Recommendation forms may be made by:
Case managers from the Department of Social Services
The juvenile justice system
District approved school personnel (such as a counselor or administrator)
Staff from community agencies which provide educational advocacy services

Program Overview
Individualized Graduation & Degree (iGrad) Program
Kent School District, Green River College, and Renton Technical College have a unique partnership that offers a second plus chance to students who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out of high school. Washington State law makes this possible under the provisions of ESSHB 1418, an Open Doors Youth Re-engagement Program.
iGrad provides all instruction, tuition, and required academic skills assessments at no cost to the students.
A Non-Traditional Location & Schedule
Students can participate in one or more program options (please see website for descriptions):
- Kent School District Diploma
- Washington State Diploma
- High School Equivalency Certificate (GED®)
- College certificate
- Industry certificate
- Two-year degree
