Through their connections and relationships with other youth, participants build a sense of who they are and where they fit in the social world. Exploring our local community together once per week we can learn about the place we live.
These local activities and events allow for opportunities for social interaction and active participation. Attendees will experience meaningful engagement with local community members, businesses, and organizations. In addition to recreation there will be time for engaging in arts, science, culture, history, and future development of the area in which we live.
Once per week we will have :
- a local activity or event for our program participants
- an activity that takes place outside our local area
- onsite activities that include recreation such as tennis, basketball, volleyball and more as well as serve the homeless community dinners. This will include set up, food service and clean up duties.
We will be teaching young people about the value of health and wellness by taking care of our community garden and planting fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
Opportunities such as, feeding the homeless community once per week, promote social values of caring, giving, respect and fairness. Moreover, strong social connection increase confidence. Experiencing our local community together as well as outdoor adventures to events such as water parks, museums, horse ranches and performing arts centers builds excitement and great opportunities!
